The members of Riveroaks believe...
The PCA is a "reformed" denomination which refers to the fact that the Holy Spirit is continuing to "re-form us as new creatures" through the process of growing more holy (sanctification) in the Lord. It also refers to the doctrines of Scripture that were rediscovered during the time of the Reformation. The PCA representative form of church government is rooted in its name: presbyterian. Local churches are governed by elders (presbyters) elected by church members. This form of government extends through regional presbyteries and on to the national General Assembly.
The desire to worship is created in every human. We believe that Christians are called by God through the work of the Holy Spirit for the sole purpose of glorifying and enjoying Him forever. At Riveroaks, the worship of God and the Lord Jesus Christ is our primary way of praising Him and expressing that praise as a congregation. Emphasis on the reading of the Old and New Testaments, the use of the Trinity Hymnal, a supplemental songbook for singing, and group studies of the Scriptures are important to worshiping with enthusiasm. Expository preaching of God’s inerrant Word as found in the Bible is followed in all services. Weekly worship consists of a Morning Service (9:30), Sunday School classes for children, students and adults (11:00), and an Evening Service/Community Groups (6:00). We look forward to having you worship alongside us at Riveroaks!
At Riveroaks our desire is to obey The Great Commission: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations." (Matthew 28:19, ESV) Like Jesus modeled for his disciples, we endeavor to imitate him by building up solid followers of Jesus Christ. Riveroaks seeks to disciple believers by focusing on Christ-centered preaching/teaching and personal experience within our covenant community.
Riveroaks supports its families through serving the needs of our men, women, students and children through our Christian Education curriculum. (See Ministries)

A Pastor's Class is offered throughout the year at varying times. Please call the church office (901-755-7772) for details. Pastor Spink often says that joining a church is similar to getting married, so it's important to be sure before you make the commitment. About twice a year Pastor Spink teaches a "Pastor's Class" for new-comers and visitors who want to know more about our church, ministries and our denomination (PCA). If you are interested in joining Riveroaks Reformed Presbyterian Church, this class is the best place to start. As well as giving you an overview of our church, the Pastor's Class will allow you to meet some of the leadership of our church.
You do not have to be seeking membership in order to attend the Pastor's Class. It is open to anyone who is interested in learning about who we are, what we do, and why we do it. The class meets during the Sunday School hour immediately after the morning worship service.
